The H i content of the Eridanus group of galaxies
The H i content of galaxies in the Eridanus group is studied using the GMRT observations and the HIPASS data. A significant H i deficiency up to a factor of 2 − 3 is observed in galaxies in the high galaxy density regions. The H i deficiency in galaxies is observed to be directly correlated with the local projected galaxy density, and inversely correlated with the line-of-sight radial velocity....
متن کاملOn the local radio luminosity function of galaxies. II: environmental dependences among late-type galaxies
Using new extensive radio continuum surveys at 1.4 GHz (FIRST and NVSS), we derive the distribution of the radio/optical and radio/NIR luminosity (RLF) of late-type (Sa-Irr) galaxies (mp < 15.7) in 5 nearby clusters of galaxies: A262, Cancer, A1367, Coma and Virgo. With the aim of discussing possible environmental dependences of the radio properties, we compare these results with those obtained...

15 صفحه اولThe Nuclei of Late - type Spiral Galaxies
We summarize some recent results from our observational campaign to study the central regions of spiral galaxies of late Hubble type (Scd-Sm). These disk-dominated, bulgeless galaxies have an apparently uneventful merger history. The evolution of their nuclei thus holds important constraints on the mechanisms that are responsible for bulge formation and nuclear activity in spiral galaxies. We d...
